    Hike along the north ridge of the Aso caldera (volcanic crater). This area is a part of the Aso Kuju National Park and is home to unique nature, stunning scenery and rare wildlife.

    Your local guide will teach you about this unique landscape that has been shaped by continues volcanic eruptions over many hundred thousand years. The Aso volcanic is often known as the largest active volcano in Japan and is also responsible for shaping much of the landscape in southwest Japan.

    As you reach the top you will learn traditional methods of using "susuki," also known as silver grass, to make a fire. Using silver grass has been vital to enable people to live in the area for many thousands of years.

    Enjoy a lunch box made with locally sourced ingredients as you sit infront of the fire and bask in the glorious view of the five peaks of the Aso volcano. This is a perfect half-day activity for families and anyone who wants to enjoy the outdoors without any previous experience.
